Schoen Funeral Home & Monuments

302 N. Hersey Ave.

Beloit, KS 67420

Owner, Funeral Director/ Embalmer: Sylvia & Barry Schoen

How long have you been in business?

13 years

Tell us a little about your business.

Schoen Funeral Home & Monuments is a family owned Funeral, cremation, and memorial headstone sales provider. Sylvia and Barry Schoen are first generation funeral home owners with locations in Beloit and Downs.

What will people get from your business that they won't get anywhere else?

When selecting our funeral Home you are choosing a provider who sincerely has heart in the business. Whether your needs are in pre-planning, at- need, or in purchasing a memorial headstone, you'll be treated as if your family.

What are your biggest challenges as a business owner?

The biggest challenge we have faced has been opening a business in the funeral space as first generation owners. We did not have any family in the business preceding us, so we have had to build our own reputation and have essentially built ourselves from the ground up. All of the families who choose us to provide for them have chosen us for a specific reason and not necessarily because we have been in business for generations.

What are the biggest rewards?

Providing bereavement care is very rewarding work. Sylvia has a God given gift in serving others in a time of need. Society needs the support of spiritually led funeral directors who can guide them through the process of arranging a funeral. When families choose us to provide services we are honored. It is rewarding because it is not work that just anyone can do. Helping others through difficult times in life, by giving them a positive and memorable experience to remember their loved ones is rewarding.
