Chamber Chat: May 9th

A Note from the Director

Although this is a part-time position, I stepped into this role because I deeply believe in Mitchell County—its people, its businesses, and the power of connection to move us all forward. Since day one, I’ve been met with warm welcomes, encouragement, and a clear sense of shared purpose. That spirit is exactly why this work matters.

Last week, we launched the new format for Chamber Chat, putting the spotlight directly on our members. The response was incredible, and I’m excited to keep that momentum going.

This is your platform! Whether you're hosting an event, hiring, running a special, or celebrating a milestone, this space is here to help you share your story with the community.

Thank you for being part of a Chamber that shows up for each other.

All the best,

Reminder: Chamber Chat is Getting an Upgrade!

We’re streamlining Chamber Chat to focus entirely on Chamber member content. Here’s what you can expect to see featured each week:

• Business specials

• Events

• Job Openings

• Milestones

• Restaurant offerings and more!

This focused format will help us better promote the great things our members are doing—and make it easier for the community to stay in the loop.

What We’ve Been Working On

Each week, we’ll also share a brief update on what the Chamber has been working on behind the scenes. Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to:

Memorial Parade Planning – We’re excited to be organizing the Memorial Parade on May 24th during Welcome Home Memorial Weekend. This year, we’re adding a float decorating contest with prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place—so get creative! Thank you to our amazing sponsors: Cunningham Fiber and Willow Springs Services, LLC! If your company is interested in sponsoring our 3rd place winner, please contact beloitchamber@nckcn.com. Sponsors will need to have 1 representative ready to judge the morning of the parade!

Lunch & Learn Sessions – Mark your calendars for Wednesday June 18th! Sarah LaRosh with Network Kansas will be speaking about grant and funding opportunities for your business! Registration information will be available Friday May 16th.

8-Man All Stars Partnership – We’ve been meeting with the 8-Man All Stars committee as we gear up for the pep rally and games on June 6th & 7th. The Chamber is working with local businesses to welcome visitors, boost community visibility, and create a vibrant experience for all.

Local Government Collaboration – This week, I had the opportunity to meet with Commissioners Tom Claussen, Mike Riemann, and Cole Eberle to discuss the future of Chamber-led events. We had a productive conversation about how Chamber-specific events—those fully organized by the Chamber—can align with broader community goals. I’m grateful for their support and shared vision.

Introducing Made in Mitch Co. – We’re excited to launch a new Chamber-led event on August 9th designed to celebrate and showcase the incredible talent, products, and services that are made right here in Mitchell County. Made in Mitch Co. will highlight local creators, artisans, bakers, and talent. It’s a direct result of our shared vision to create meaningful, community-driven events that benefit both our members and the broader region. Event information and registration to come!

Chamber Operations – Behind the scenes, we’re streamlining day-to-day operations to better align with the Chamber’s mission and vision—ensuring we continue to grow, serve, and lead effectively. This week we had our monthly board meeting where we discussed our roles within the board and broader community.

We’re committed to transparency, collaboration, and celebrating progress big or small.
