Velveteen Elvis live at Kettle
Saturday, August 5, 12-2 pm
"Velveteen Elvis will be playing at Kettle Saturday, August 5 from 12-2 pm for a lunch show. Velveteen Elvis is the alt-country, folk-rock duo of Jake and Drew, old friends and musical kin from the heart of North Central Kansas. The two have been collaborating on original songs and music for almost two decades, honing their songwriting skills over that time, now ready to tell and share stories of all sorts through their unique brand of songwriting that places a premium on catchy hooks and lyrics that can go from dark and poignant tales of rural struggle to humorous singalongs you can’t forget in the turn of a verse. Their lyrics and melodies are amalgamations of all their most dearly held influences both new and old—from the Drive-By Truckers, Uncle Tupelo, and the Replacements, to John Prine, Slobberbone, and Jason Isbell—the two are on a life long mission to pay homage to the artists that continue to make them strive to write great songs people can connect with."
